The family of Taslyn Quickfall, who disappeared from his Mitchells Plain home two weeks ago, has urged the public to come forward should they have any information on his whereabouts.
The 38-year-old who suffers from schizophrenia, went missing on October 7, after he left his home in Agapanthus Street, Lentegeur.
His brother Safwaan Quickfall, 42, said his brother left the family home and never returned.
“My mother thought he went to the shop (like he did) every day to buy himself cooldrink and sweets, but when she went outside and he was not sitting on the step she became worried.
“We checked every mortuary, hospital - up until Atlantis, we checked all his friends and all our family, and police stations but he is nowhere to be found.
“We are worried because as the nurse explained to us, a schizophrenic person (sometimes) hears voices when they don’t take their medication. What if this voice is telling him to keep walking?
“My brother is very humble and still child-like, he will talk about things of the past, like when he was in school, so if he is stopped by someone, he will easily strike up a conversation,” he said.
Quickfall said the last time his brother was seen was on CCTV footage leaving Mitchells Plain on the day he went missing.
“The last time the cameras picked him up he was walking on Jakes Gerwel Drive towards Vangate Mall, past the R300, and that's all we got.
“We believe there is someone out there that has seen something or has spotted him, or maybe he sees this post and if he does we want him to know that we love him, we are worried and want him to come back home.
“He is not used to being on his on, so there's a constant worry about where he is sleeping, whether he ate, is he warm, is he safe?” Quickfall said.
Quickfall is a light of complexion,1.7m tall, has black hair and brown eyes.
On the day he disappeared he was wearing a brown leather jacket, blue jeans and a pair of Jordan takkies.
If anyone has sees him, they are urged to contact the family on 021 376 0607 or 072 954 4500.
