On 25 January 2025, CapeNature kicked off the very first Cubs Club Connect event at the stunning Assegaaibosch Nature Reserve near Stellenbosch, and it was an absolute blast. Cubs Club members and their families came together for a day packed with fun, learning, and outdoor adventures.
“We’re so excited to have launched this awesome event for our Cubs Club members,” said Dr. Ashley Naidoo, CEO of CapeNature. “It’s the perfect chance for kids to learn important skills, make new friends, and explore the beautiful nature of our reserves.”
'Fire and Nature,' focused on fire safety through engaging activities such as role-playing, a fire hazard scavenger hunt, and even a hike to explore how fire works in nature and how to stay safe.
Natanya Dreyer, who leads CapeNature’s Learning and Awareness programs, said, “The kids had a blast learning how fire helps nature grow and how to be safe around it. Plus, they got to try out hands-on activities, which made learning even more fun.”
By joining the Cubs Club, kids and families get to take part in special events like this one — all for free. Plus, Cubs Club members get cool perks like a 20% discount on birthday accommodation and an exciting welcome pack to kick-start their journey into nature conservation.
Teachers, group leaders, and existing clubs can also sign up as a Cubs Club group and enjoy lots of extra benefits.
On the big day, two groups—one from Stellenbosch and another from Hanover Park—joined in on the fun. It was a day full of learning, laughter, and adventure!
