Cape Town - The CTICC will come alive with the resonating beats of unity as Marimba Jam, an award-winning organization, will be having its 8th annual Marimba Jam Festival on September 28th.
With a rich history, vibrant spirit, and sights set on the Guinness World Record for the largest marimba ensemble in 2025, Marimba Jam Festival 2024 invites audiences to experience "Harmony in Diversity”.
"Harmony in Diversity will take attendees on an exciting musical journey with a programme that celebrates diversity with the sounds of the ancients, beautifully woven into the modern day musical landscape!
Experience the exhilarating sound of 100 marimbas performing stunning arrangements of diverse hits, from local icons like Miriam Makeba, Zakes Bantwini, and Tyla to international legends like Coldplay and Mozart.
Set against the backdrop of Heritage Month and 30 years of Democracy, this event celebrates South Africa’s cultural diversity, harnessing the unifying power of music to bridge communities and uplift young spirits.
Born from Kiara Ramklass's passionate vision, Marimba Jam harmonises over 500 students from 20 diverse schools in Cape Town including Springfield Convent School, Wynberg Girls’ High School, Mitchell’s Plain High School, SACS, Livingstone High School and Gardens Commercial High School to name a few, breaking barriers of colour, creed, and background.
Ramklass was recently named one of Mail and Guardian’s 200 Young South Africans for her contribution to youth development through musical education.
Beyond musical education, the festival echoes the heartbeat of transformation, empowering youth to step onto the stage of life with confidence.
“It is our belief that music has the power to transform the lives of children and offer them the opportunity to unlock their potential to become the leaders of tomorrow,” said Ramklass.
The festival's impact extends beyond the evening as the funds raised contribute towards the Rising Stars outreach program, which provides free marimba band classes to historically marginalised schools.
Marimba Jam also offers professional training and development opportunities and employment to youth who matriculate from their programmes, having reached over 1 500 youth in the last eight years.
Don't miss the chance to be front and centre at this sensational showcase, as talented young stars take the stage and leave you spellbound
