The world’s most expensive suitcase has gone on sale at Harrods – and with a £37,500 price tag it costs almost as much as a Porsche.

Called The Trunk, it is made by Italian luggage brand TecknoMonster in super-tough carbon fibre that should survive even the roughest of baggage handlers.

Available only in black, it is 86cm by 60cm by 36cm, has a 154-litre capacity, crocodile trim and an interior of quilted leather, carbon fibre flaps, custom-made hangers and wooden inlays.

TecknoMonster describes it as ‘a 21st century take on a classical travel accessory’ and ‘deeply rooted in a bygone era of steam trains and cruise liners’.
