Pretoria - Affordability, location and relaxation rank highest in importance when it comes to holidaying, new travel research has found.
Club Med, partnered with research specialist Columinate to uncover the perceptions that South African consumers have of travel and style.
The research shed insight on consumers’ travel habits, what they perceive style to be and how that translates into the travel space. The research pooled a sample size of 613 economically active consumers between the ages of 25 and 64.
The respondents, 58 percent female and 42 percent male, live in Gauteng, Western Cape and KwaZulu-Natal.
The research found that South Africans love to travel with 43 percent of respondents travelling both locally and overseas while 56 percent had travelled locally.
For overseas travellers, planning is one of the most important parts of the trip, but they prefer it to be simple and hassle-free.
Picturesque locations, quality accommodation and convenience are rated highly. The research also showed a number of signifiers of what holidays enjoyed in style are, including but not limited to:
l All-inclusive holiday packages (completely removing the stress of having to pay for anything while on holiday).
l Picturesque locations and premium to luxury accommodation.
l Robust, all-round child care services with qualified child minders.
l Engaging in sports that are perceived to be premium like golf and scuba diving.
