As the work year resumes and children get back to school, many South Africans may already be dreaming of their next escape from the grind of work and studies.

For adventurers looking for an exhilarating getaway, Sun City Resort may be an option as a local getaway.

The resort has captivated guests for 45 years and continues to be an iconic destination, which is a two-hour drive from Johannesburg.

Visitors can embrace a world where adrenalin, adventure and relaxation co-exist harmoniously.

“There is no way that anyone can experience everything that Sun City offers in just one stay, which is why we have so many repeat guests and regulars,” said general manager Brett Hoppé.

From water slides to rope courses, sports and wildlife adventures, here’s a list of some of the activities available at the iconic resort.

Valley of Waves

For water-seekers, the Valley of Waves offers a tropical atmosphere with white sandy beaches and palm trees.

Guests can either soak up the sun by the pool or revel in the thrill of the Temple of Courage slide, which is a heart-stopping 17-metre drop.

Chimp & Zee Rope Adventure Park

For those who prefer to keep their feet in the air, the Chimp & Zee Rope Adventure Park offers an elevated obstacle course above the Valley of Waves, where guests can traverse high beams and zip lines, all while enjoying breathtaking views.

Venture into the hidden corners of Sun City at The Maze of the Lost City, the largest permanent maze in the Southern Hemisphere, which is accessible via a 100-metre-long suspension bridge.
