South Africa makes Most Instagrammed Road Trips in the World list

Cape Town featured in the Most Instagrammed Road Trips in the World list. The survey done by

Road trips have grown popular over the last decade. Many people feel inspired by the visual effects and by the images that they see posted on Instagram. The folks at Click4reg.co.uk collected 15 of the best-known roads and journeys around the world and judged the most Instagrammed roads by analysing the number of hashtags for each road trip with #name and #name + road trip.

South Africa’s Route 62 made the list. The tourist route in South Africa meanders between Cape Town, Oudtshoorn, the Garden Route, and Port Elizabeth. Route 62 had over 28,234 hashtags on the social media platform. Route 62 offers many quaint towns along the route. Home to many foodie spots, adventure and other leisure jaunts, Route 62 has bowled over local and international travellers alike. 

The other road trip options 

Claiming the top spot is Route 66 in the USA with 1,708,620 hashtags. The iconic route is a bucket list activity for many travellers. Great Ocean Road in Australia came in second with 1,291,178. The top two were the only road trips in the world with over a million hashtags. Pacific Coast Highway in the USA(325,917 hashtags), Valley of Fire in the USA (219,333) and Ring Road in Iceland (154,230) made the top 5. Europe has been revealed as the continent with the most Instagrammable road trips as it claimed 7 of the top 15 spots on the list. England’s Snake Pass was the lowest tagged road trip with just 12,343 hashtags.
