A 46-year-old father of one from Chatsworth was found in his bedroom on Tuesday with fatal head injuries suspected to be caused by a blunt object.

According to Mzansi Fire and Security, a family member of the man called them and requested assistance after they could not contact him.

“Mzansi Securifire and other security partners assisted in gaining access to the premises. Upon entry, the Mzansi team searched the home and found the man deceased on his bed in the bedroom. The deceased had severe head injuries and significant blood loss,” said the statement.

Rajesh Balram, the chairperson of the Havenside Community Policing Sub Forum, and former station commander of the Bayview SAPS, said details surrounding the man’s death were still sketchy.

“The brutal murder of this man has sent shockwaves through the community. It seems as if the man was bashed on his head with a blunt object. Police are still investigating the circumstances surrounding the man’s death. There were no signs of forced entry and no reason to believe his death may be linked to a house break-in because nothing was taken," said Balram

Police did not comment at the time of publication.
