A CAPITEC BANK employee was stabbed to death and another critically injured, allegedly by an enraged customer, OK Centre, Empangeni on Wednesday.
Joe Kruger of Mounties EMS said they received a distress call just after 12pm and arrived to find people "hysterical".
"The team got to the scene and people were just hysterical. The female employee was stabbed in her face and she was left in critical condition. The male employee sustained multiple stab wounds to his body and unfortunately we could not revive him. He was declared dead at the scene," Kruger said.
He said blood was seen in the customer help area of the bank as well as in an office at the back, where they tried to revive the male victim.
He said police sources informed him that the suspect had been arrested as he tried to evade the scene.
Reports indicated that the suspect became enraged after he had to wait in line for help. It is alleged that he left the branch and returned with the knife which he used to stab the two employees.
