Jasmin Radhalall Ramdin was recently crowned Miss Bollywood Brand Ambassador South Africa at show promoter Roshans Singhs' 19th year celebration in the entertainment industry.
The event, at the Radisson Blu Hotel in Umhlanga, was directed by Singh and the MC was Varshan Sookhun of Lotus FM.
Singh said: "The aim of this event is to create women and youth empowerment. We had eight different titles and more than 1 200 entries across all titles. Jasmin won the Miss Bollywood Brand Ambassador South Africa. Her role will be to make a difference in the community by giving back where needed."
Ramdin, who resides in Shakaskraal on the Dolphin Coast, said she entered to inspire women.
"I wanted to create a platform for women, youth and charity organisations. I will be involved in a lot of charity work because I want to change lives. I stand for kindness, compassion and empathy.”
She is a member of a non-profit organisation called the Shakaskraal Helping Hands.
“We are involved in a lot of community work and we helped neighbouring towns in times of need. I also interact a lot with the old age centre in Shakaskraal. My goal is to open an NPO for abused women as gender-based violence is on the increase and to visit more charity organisations and children's homes to help as many people as I can. In addition, I am an animal lover, so I would like to work with the SPCA and other animal rescue organisations."
Ramdin is a Sai devotee and believes in the teachings to "Love all and serve all; help ever, hurt never."
She thanked her parents, Radhalall and Roshni Ramdin, for supporting her in every stage of her life.
