Singers Shay Shainul Ramji, Jani Punjab and Zeeshan Shani are among the artists who will perform at the Music Spectacular Night on August 27 in Newcastle. The event will be held at The Status Hall.
Ramji said she had performed at a few shows in Newcastle in 2019 and looked forward to returning.
“This time, we will have a live band. Rehearsals start next week and patrons can expect a rocking show,” said Ramji.
She said one of her most requested songs was a cover version of Mausi Rasoye Halwa in 2017/2018.
"It's a dance song that is generally played at weddings and fun gatherings. It is chutney music, which is popular in KwaZulu-Natal. The song went viral on YouTube - raking up more than a million views. As long as I am singing Mausi Rasoye Halwa, the audience does not care about anything else that I have to say,” she said.
Ramji said since the lockdown restrictions were relaxed, she had several shows lined up.
"There are a lot of events happening, which is exciting as an artist because most people in the entertainment industry struggled during the pandemic. I love live performances. There is no better feeling than connecting with your audience and making them happy,” she said.
Jani Punjab, a singer, music composer and one of the event organisers, said most of the popular music concerts were held in Durban.
“Now it’s Newcastle's chance to be entertained. The band Bilkash Rock Star will also perform as well as Yaadna Chuturi and others,” Punjab said.
The show will start at 7pm. For tickets, call 073 121 4426 or 073 060 5591.
Tickets cost R100.
