AMAZULU FC do not have to think that deeply about their approach to the Betway Premiership match against TS Galaxy who are visiting them at Umlazi’s King Goodwill Zwelithini Stadium  on Friday at 7.30pm ahead of the international Fifa break.

It’s all so very simple; they are playing a team two places above them with two points ahead of them. So, beat Galaxy at home and go into the two-week break with a bag full of positives and that approach was confirmed by AmaZulu’s right-wing back Nkosikhona Radebe.

“This game is very important for us because we are playing a team that is above us and if we beat them, we will overtake them. That (beating them) will mean better chances for us (in the top four race) because our aim really is to be where they are (right now),” said the former Galaxy man.

“So, this game is very important. We will aim to use our home advantage. That should work for us.”

Radebe will be very important for AmaZulu to gain some inside knowledge about Galaxy since he was in the books of the Mbombela-based side from 2022 up until January 2025 when he left for Durban.

“I do have some knowledge about them. In fact, I can say I have a deeper understanding about them but then again there is a situation where I did not get much game time with them,” said Radebe.

“They are more dangerous on attack because they tend to go forward with more energy.  It is almost the same with their defence when they lose the ball, they regroup quickly and that will mean we also have to strap on our scoring boots and let go of this problematic habit of missing chances.”

The matter of Galaxy energy when going forward is clearly something AmaZulu have discussed at length, with the experienced midfielder Bongani Zungu also pointing it out.

“Their energy when going forward is something to look out for. It is going to be a tough game because we ourselves haven't done badly even though they are ahead of us,” said the former Mamelodi Sundowns player.

“We will try our best to win this game because we want to go to the Fifa break with those three points in the bag. So that is another thing that makes this an important game for us.”

There are not so many differences between the two teams as they apart at position five and seven respectivelly, except that AmaZulu tend to concede more goals with 28 as opposed to the 22 of Galaxy.

Home advantage really is the only advantage AmaZulu can claim with both sides having played on Tuesday; Galaxy drubbed SuperSport United 3-1 whilst Usuthu suffered a 2-0 loss to log leaders, Mamelodi Sundowns.
