ALICE Modise was a woman of God.
She spread the Gospel to others and rarely missed church.
That’s how her granddaughter, Moipone Selebano, remembers her.
She said her grandmother had been a Jehovah’s Witnesses member in Moletsane and loved sharing and reading, especially the Bible.
“Together with church members, she volunteered herself and her time to spread the word of God. She visited houses within the area and preached the gossip to the people,” said Selebano.
Born on November 24, 1929, Modise worked for several firms in Joburg, including the Edblo mattress company.
Her son Solomon described his mother as a sweet and loving woman who taught them respect and discipline.
“She made me who I am today,” he said.
Modise died on Monday from heart failure at Chris Hani-Baragwanath Academic Hospital.
She will be laid to rest at Avalon Cemetery tomorrow. The service will be held at 1421 Mohapi Street, Moletsane, at 7.30am and the cortege will leave at 8am.
