Johannesburg - For as long as she can remember, Uzile Ngubane has always wanted to sing.
It all started when she was just a toddler making her debut in the entertainment world with a TV advert with her model mom. At the age of five, she starred in her first short film, Mletheni, for Mzansi Magic. Her love for music kept growing, and she joined the school choir in Grade 4. Now the singer has kick-started her dreams of being a big star.
The 12-year-old released a single, Momma Shine, to honour her mother and other mothers.
“I thought for my first song I should write about my mom because she is my everything, my world and is always there for me when I need her ,” said the singer who goes by the stage name Uzi-H.
Uzile has already had her first taste of fame performing her song at Miss Teenager South Africa and Miss & Mr Teen World SA.
“The audience was so supportive, better than I thought they would be. They cheered me on and loved me.”
Her musical inspiration at the moment is 18-year-old Tyla, who has just signed a global deal with Epic Records. Tyla’s hit song, Getting Late, has exploded on the internet, and the singer is receiving a lot of praise.
“She is my favourite person right now in music. I would also say Nadia Nakai and Cassper Nyovest are firm favourites of mine. I love hip hop.”
At school, the young lady loves her history lessons.
“I love learning about the ancient Egyptians and other important things that happened in the past.”
The music video for her song was released in March to coincide with the release. “I will be releasing an album. I am working on a song right now, and it is going to be lovely. I am going to the studio more often to make more songs. I think this upcoming song will be loved by everyone.”
The independent artist is using social media to punt her music in the world.
