As a layman, I am puzzled and perplexed at the debate surrounding the possible legal use of ivermectin as an emerging cure and relief from Covid19.
Ivermectin was instrumental in the fight against malaria. The drug is an anti-parasitic – it also has anti-viral activity and a good safety profile.
Australian scientists have shown that ivermectin can kill the coronavirus within 48 hours. Scientists from Monash University in Melbourne revealed that a single dose could stop the Sars-CoV -2 virus growing in cell culture, eradicating all generic material of the virus within 48 hours.
It is up to the medical fraternity to determine the correct human dosage.
As a FDA-approved drug, ivermectin has proven to be effective against many viruses, including HIV, dengue, flu and the Zeka virus.
With new and emerging strains of the virus, no power on Earth can say with certainty that the new vaccines now being produced will be able to block a third and fourth wave. A rapidly mutating virus is a formidable foe.
It is a matter of extreme urgency that all stakeholders conduct impartial tests and intense research to verify the medical value of ivermectin. Time is a luxury we cannot afford.
