Two years ago President Cyril Ramaphosa talked about bullet trains and mega cities and pies in the sky.
Now we have the court jester who announced he will make sure that he will turn Johannesburg/Ekurhuleni into another Dubai and so we can “shop till we drop” the same way here, without leaving our country.
His comments indicate a profound naïveté and a lack of leadership. Has he taken a trip through central Joburg lately? If he did without an entourage of security personnel to protect him, he would have seen the following.
Johannesburg has turned into a cesspool and not “an African worldclass city” his ANC government keep on repeating. Criminals will rob you in a blink of an eye, and if you are unlucky they may knock you unconscious or even kill you.
Beggars and vagabonds are everywhere. Miscreants who urinate not in a back alley but anywhere and everywhere when the need arises.
Others again sitting and drinking openly on the sidewalk with sewage running next to them from overflowing and blocked drains.
Loud music emanating from hundreds of different places and gambling going on openly.
Drug pedlars and users advertising their wares and so do prostitutes competing for clients.
Dilapidated and derelict buildings, others occupied by hundreds of families and others in disrepair
And of course the ever present stinking piles of rubbish and rotting vegetables at every corner with their putrid and foul smell everywhere.
Wake up Minister, I wonder what have you smoked this time.
