Nhlamulo ‘Nota’ Baloyi has vowed to comply with the law after spending the weekend in custody following allegations of rape lodged against him by actress and musician Itumeleng Bokaba.

Last week, Baloyi and Bokaba became an explosive topic on social media following the sharing of their private conversations, which included both professional and intimate exchanges.

Baloyi’s predicament drew heightened attention when he voluntarily handed himself at the Randburg Police Station on Friday afternoon, asserting his willingness to cooperate with the law.

Following his arrest, he was granted bail of R5000 by the Randburg Magistrate Court and is set to return for a hearing on November 9.

It has been reported that crucial WhatsApp messages exchanged between him and Bokaba would be thoroughly examined.

Baloyi took to social media to express gratitude to his followers and said: “Thank you, Lord... Thank you all for the prayers and support. I’ve been granted bail. I will prove my innocence, and I will comply with all the conditions placed on me by the Randburg Magistrate Court today. My nightmare is over.’’

In a recent podcast interview with DJ Sbu, he reiterated his determination to see this through legally, emphasising his transparency in the face of the rape allegations.

He also recognised the predicament that many men encounter in similar circumstances, when sensational stories can drown out their voices.

“Thank you for giving me this time, and thank you for giving me the support. Thank you for allowing me to be heard. You know many times where many men in what I can call a similar position to mine now you know everyone just shuts them out and no one wants to hear them out.

“And that can make people spiral into self-destructive things. I have got nothing to run from. I have nothing to hide. Like I said, I have nothing to hide; I let everyone into my WhatsApp inbox, and that’s how transparent I am.”

While Baloyi continues with his rants on social media, Bokaba has remained mum.
