According to Downdetector.co.za, Nedbank customers started reporting issues with the bank’s services at around 7am and this lasted till around 10am.
A number of customers said that they received an error message while trying to access the Nedbank Money app on their iOS devices. They received this message before they could log into the application.
The message said, “Something went wrong on our side”.
Customers were told that they should contact the Everyday banking line by calling +27 80 055 511 or emailing contactcentre@nedbank.co.za.
The bank said on X that it is aware of the issue.
“Kindly note that our Digital channels are temporarily unavailable. We apologise for any inconvenience this might have caused. We are working to recover these services as quickly as possible,” Nedbank said.
Several Nedbank customers took to social media to ask the bank about the issues and the turnaround time it would take to fix the problem.
One customer asked on X if Nedbank had been hacked.
“What's happening? My app says it has a bug. Have we been hacked,” the user said.
Back up and running
Nedbank noted that the issue was resolved by 11am but did not say what the reason was for the almost four hour delay in services.
“Hi there. We're now up and running. We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience caused,” the bank said on X.
