The beauty about travelling is that one gets the opportunity to explore, learn about the world and experience different cultures.
In her quest to discover and learn more about Africa, comedian and actress Tiffany Haddish recently travelled to Harare, Zimbabwe, and shared her experience on social media
In a video posted on TikTok and shared on various social media platforms, the actress expressed excitement at finding out that Harare had grocery stores.

“Hey ya’ll. So I’m out here in Zimbabwe, in Harare and look at the grocery store. They got a grocery store. It’s beautiful. It’s beautiful in the grocery store,” said Haddish.
She proceeded to marvel at the organic produce in store and gave viewers a tour of the Zimbabwean supermarket. According to the actress, the purpose of the video was to demystify American perceptions of the continent.
“I just like demystifying sh*t. It don’t smell bad. Look at that meat over there. They got sodas. They got a whole wall of alcohol,” said Haddish, moving around the store.
However, the actress’ video was not well received and she received backlash on social media platforms including X.
Commenting on her TikTok video, @emmazihonye, said: “you think we dont have grocery stores🤔🤔? Maam please.”
Another TikTokker, @mhamamikemica, said: “this video she is showing those who say ‘in Africa there is nothing’ 🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰.”
@tk_palmer4 said: “she is proving her fellow Americans wrong...we do have everything they thought we don't..and i love how people didn't notice her 🤣🤣🤣.”
And @ijobs_80 said: “Man i feel downgraded. What did you really think. At least now you know. We leave freely and freshly in Zim.”
