South African actor and comedian Siv Ngesi is working on launching sanitary pads.
The pole dancer took to social media to announce that he has tested several sanitary pads from various countries and will soon launch a brand in South Africa.
“I have always wanted my range of affordable, high-quality and locally made sanitary pads. Today we spent over eight hours testing sanitary pads from all over the world here in China! I never knew pads could be so exciting! Factory coming soon to South Africa!” he wrote.
While many supported his vision, some couldn’t understand why he was concerned about sanitary pads as a man.
However, what they don’t understand is that although it’s women who experience menstruation, some single fathers are raising girl children and therefore are concerned about menstruation.
Ngesi added that they tested the sanitary pads at the laboratory to see how well they would hold up when a woman is on her cycle.
“Here is the laboratory test we did … with period blood consistency, (some as thick as egg white with fake clots ) … using machines and female scientists!”
When others suggested he invest in reusable sanitary products such as cups and washable pads, he said he couldn’t do that because most of the people he works with don’t want those.
“We work with period panties, menstrual cups, pads etc! Young disadvantaged women don’t want reusable products! Reusables need education, culture change, running water and privacy.
“My charity distributes/donates 528 000 sanitary pads per month! Fifteen million over the last three years.”
Many commended him for always advocating for disadvantaged women.
“This is awesome, Siv. Congratulations brother. Wishing you all the success going forward. Thank you for helping so many women. I love this,” commented @angel1lilly.
