Thulasizwe Simelane will be kicking off spring by hosting SAfm’s flagship show, “The Morning Brief”, from next month.
The respected journalist and broadcaster will take over the 6am to 9am timeslot on the award-winning local radio station, which broadcasts across South Africa, from Monday, September 2.
“‘The Morning Brief” has earned widespread acclaim on the airwaves over the years with its unique blend of hard-hitting news and current affairs content, as well in-depth interviews with prominent figures.
The breakfast show is also known for its lively discussions, which seek to position listeners on the right path to form informed opinions on various national, continental and international conversations as their day begins
Simelane, known for his insightful reporting and engaging presence, is a trusted voice in broadcast journalism, with almost two decades of experience.
He returns to the SABC in his latest role having started his radio journalism career at the public broadcaster back in 2007, when he established the SABC Harare Bureau.
In addition, his extensive experience includes anchoring prime-time news on various news television networks such as eNCA.
He was also head of the political news desk at “Newzroom Afrika”, has anchored shows on Radio 702 and has also been a senior political journalist at SABC News.
Simelane holds a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism from Rhodes University and a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) from Wits University.
Last January, he was appointed as the spokesperson for Takatso Aviation (Pty) Ltd.
Radio Fortune Combo Business Manager, Anthony Soglo, said his addition to SAfm was set to bring a fresh dynamic appeal and energy to morning talk radio.
