After almost two years, “Tell Me Lies” is finally set to provide viewers with some closure as season two of the intoxicating Hulu show will premiere next month.

The first instalment of the hit US drama, which premiered in October 2022, ended on a jaw-dropping cliffhanger.

It is based on Carola Lovering’s best-selling novel of the same name and was created by Meaghan Oppenheimer and executive produced by Emma Roberts.

With the show's official description as “You never forget your worst”, it centres on the tumultuous relationship between college students Lucy Albright (Grace Van Patten) and Stephen DeMarco (Jackson White) over an 8-year period.

A tragedy at their school, Baird College, sees them quickly getting pulled into a mess of betrayal, sex and lies.

The couple’s addictive entanglement has devastating consequences as it permanently alters their lives and the lives of everyone around them.

Meanwhile, “Deadline” has reported that the eight-episode new season will see a host of star-studded additions being made to the cast.

This includes “Lucifer” star Tom Ellis, who married Oppenheimer in 2019, who will make his debut as a Baird College professor.

Meanwhile, Thomas Doherty, who featured on the “Gossip Girl” reboot as well as in Disney's “Descendants” movies, will play Leo, Lucy’s new love interest alongside Jacob Rodriguez, Katherine Hughes and Sonia Mena, who are also joining the show.

The publication added that much of the cast will reprise their roles for season two, such as Cat Missal, Spencer House, Sonia Mena, Branden Cook and Alicia Crowder.

If the trailer for “Tell Me Lies” season two, which was released last week, is anything to go by, viewers are in for a wild ride.

As "Heads Will Roll" by the Yeah Yeah Yeahs underscores the drama, the trailer sees Lucy in the aftermath of her break-up.

Still emotionally scarred, she is taunted by Stephen, which motivates her to embark on a quest for revenge against her former lover.

It reveals how season two will expand deeper into their troubled relationship as the show’s latest offering will also see how the friendship group’s fallout has gone on to impact their lives.

Hulu’s logline for the new season reads: “Yet while very much at odds, they find themselves in a new version of their addictive dynamic – which is as infuriating as it is inescapable.

“Meanwhile, the story will also expand deeper into the lives of Lucy and Stephen’s friend group, as the fallout from season 1 impacts all of their lives in unexpected ways.”

Oppenheimer recently told “People” magazine that the new season will still place much focus of the captivating lead characters.

"It's definitely still Lucy and Stephen at the core. They're definitely the through line of the show," she said.

"But my intention going into this show, even from season one was: What are the repercussions within a friend group from one central set of lies?"

∎ “Tell Me Lies” season two will premiere on Disney+ September 4.
