Nomfundo Moh has been feeling so confident and positive since she turned 24 in July that she even decided to name her latest album after her age, just like Adele.

The renowned musician, whose real name is Nomfundo Ngcobo, dropped her third studio album “Twenty Four” earlier this month.

“For some reason, the 24-year-old me is more confident and positive about life,” she admitted.

“I took time to reflect on my journey and realised that I have achieved some of my dreams I had five years ago and that gives me hope that others can also reach their dreams if they put their minds to it and work hard.”

“I feel like I am brave enough to be the voice for the voiceless and my ‘Twenty Four’ album accentuates that.”

The nine-track album, which features collaborations with Cassper Nyovest and Msaki on “Umusa”, Boohle on the album’s title track, “Uyazkhohlwa” and Zuko SA on “Muntu Wami”, marks a significant milestone in her career.

The Afropop singer and songwriter added that while she is used to working alone, she enjoyed the “new experience” of teaming up with fellow artists. “Working on this album taught me how to work with different people,” she noted.

She added: “Putting the album together was fun as we had done lots of songs already. We had camps last year whereby we created tons of new music.”

The album offers an intimate glimpse into her thoughts, ideals and unwavering belief in love, all encapsulated in her twenty-fourth year of life. It also showcases her ability to blend genres seamlessly as she looks to use her latest musical offering to solidify her reputation as a hitmaker

And while “Twenty Four” is still relatively new, she said that the reception for the album had been “amazing”.

“I am grateful to my fans for the love and support.”

She also used the album to send strong messages to fans, including with “Uyazkhohlwa”, which translates to “please behave yourself because you seem to forget who you are”.

“It is a reminder to a loved one to stay true to themselves in a world where people are trying to fit in,” she explained.

“It is the song that reminds one to be rooted in who they are and when they feel lost and need to get back on track.”

Meanwhile, Moh has also joined the likes of international amapiano DJ and producer Uncle Waffles, neo-R&B songstress Elaine and pop R&B doyenne Nanette Mbili, who each graced the covers of global music platform Apple Music’s Alpha playlist this Women’s Month.

These music change-makers joined the likes of Beyoncé, who was the first artist to grace the cover earlier this year.

The playlists touch on everything womanhood is about and is a place where listeners can find love and intimacy, hope and validation, intensity and rawness.

On being celebrated by Apple Music, Moh said in a statement that being a female artist was “mighty.”

“Not everyone has the ability to break chains that are meant to limit their creativity, only a superhuman can conquer such … We’re about to break more chains through our music.”

She added to “Independent Media Lifestyle” that she was grateful to Apple Music for this opportunity: “What an honour it is to be celebrated by one of the best music platforms.”

Moh is also passionate about giving back to the community through her #24Drive campaign, which provides basic items to the less fortunate. It has already made a positive impact in several locations, including in Gauteng and Durban, with the next campaign scheduled to take place in Pretoria soon.

“The campaign is about me giving back to the disadvantaged people from different communities,” she explained.

“As I am a qualified social worker, I wanted to do something that aligns with my profession, apart from me making music.”

Moh also opened her first restaurant La Mar, in Spruitview, Gauteng.

The KwaZulu-Natal-born artist’s music career began when she was just 16 back in 2016. But her first breakthrough came in 2021 when her single "Lilizela” went on to achieve platinum status.

After signing with Universal Music, she rose to further prominence with her debut studio album “Amagama” the next year, which was also certified platinum. Since then, she has set the music world alight with songs such as “Soft Life” and “Taximan”.

As she looks to continue her success, she said that fans can expect beautiful visuals of different songs from her new album. “I might also think of doing a tour soon,” she added.
