In June, Letoya Makhene, the South African actress and singer known for her role in "Generations", made headlines over her tumultuous relationship with her estranged wife, Lebo Keswa.
The marriage is on shaky ground amidst claims of infidelity and abuse. Amidst these personal challenges, Makhene is finding solace in her first love, music.
On July 11 in Bryanston, Johannesburg, Makhene signed a record deal with Ntethe Global Effect, marking her comeback to the music scene after a long break.
This is a dynamic entertainment company founded by award-winning musician and music executive Ntethelelo Mposwa, known simply as Ntethe.
The company is underwritten by Universal Music Publishing Group.
Makhene shared: "Working with Ntethe has been both a blessing and a challenge because as a vocal producer, he has really stretched me beyond my limits.”
She had been eager to return to her musical roots and collaborate with a team of professionals whose goals aligned with hers.
"Signing with Ntethe Global Effect is a dream come true. It is great to finally get back to doing what I was born to do and to be able to work with a team of professionals whose goals are aligned with mine.
“I believe Ntethe Global Effect is the company that is going to take my music and my brand to the next level.“
She also shared a post with the caption: “New beginnings... This is the day that the Lord has made. Here’s a snippet of what we’re revealing today. Watch this space...Makwande🙏🏾”
