SuperSport United has reportedly fired South African coaching great Gavin Hunt with the Tshwane club sitting second from bottom and in real danger of being relegated at the end of the season.
While the news of Hunt's firing has yet to be confirmed, Sunday World quoted an anonymous source saying the club has decided to give him the boot.
The club started the season with lofty ambitions of pushing Tshwane rivals Mamelodi Sundowns all the way in the title race, but their season has not gone according to plan as they have suffered 10 losses from their 22 games.
Their last win in the league was a morale-boosting 4-1 victory over Kaizer Chiefs last month, but they have not been able to reach those heights since.

Since beating Amakhosi, they've been beaten by Magesi FC and TS Galaxy, and been dumped out of the Nedbank Cup on penalties by Orlando Pirates, putting more pressure on him.
The 60-year-old Hunt is one of the most decorated head coaches in the history of South African football. He famously guided Matsatsantsa to three consecutive league titles between 2007 and 2010. During the 2016/17 campaign, he famously led an unfancied Bidvest Wits side to the title, and landed the coveted Kaizer Chiefs job following Ernst Middendorp's firing in 2020.
However, his time with the Soweto giants was not a happy one. He joined a side that suffered a meltdown in the title race during the Covid-19 pandemic-affected 2019-20 season. His attempts to revamp the squad were scuppered by a a global transfer ban, and after a difficult campaign, he was fired in 2021.
After a brief spell with Chippa United, Hunt returned to his old hunting ground at SuperSport United, but he just could not replicate the magic from his first spell with the club.
