AmaZulu head coach Pablo Franco has confirmed that the club are currently involved in talks with former Orlando Pirates goalkeeper Richard Ofori.
Despite the transfer window slamming shut last week, AmaZulu can still conclude a deal to sign the Ghana international due to him being a free agent.
The 30-year-old Ofori was released by Orlando Pirates at the end of last season after three seasons at the club.
Quoted by iDiskiTimes on Thursday, Martin said Ofori had been training with the club for a number of days, but they were still to finalise a deal for him.
“He came two days ago. He has been training with the team. He is a great goalkeeper with a lot of experience in PSL, Africa, and the national team,” Martin said on Thursday.
“I know him well because – I don’t know if you remember this – but he was the one sending me home in the quarter-final in CAF when we played here with Simba SC vs Orlando Pirates he saved two penalties on top of that he scored the winner.
“He is a player who hasn’t been playing for such a long period of time so we want to look at him, he is keen to sign for us let’s see what happens in the upcoming hours, he is a free agent.
“It’s a discussion that the club director of football, the technical staff, and the player they need to have and see if we can reach an agreement.”
