For the second Presidents Cup in a row, Christiaan Bezuidenhout will be the sole South African representative and he will be hoping for more game time than in the 2022 edition with the four-day team event starting on Thursday.

Two years ago, Bezuidenhout was called on to play two out of a possible five matches. One of those was the compulsory singles match on the final day, and considering the International Presidents Cup captain was countryman Trevor Immelman, it was disappointing Bezuidenhout did not feature more.

This year, The Internationals will host the USA at the Royal Montreal Golf Club, in Quebec, Canada.

Quite appropriately, Canadian Mike Weir is the captain for the clash. Whether that means Bezuidenhout, who now has two more years experience under his belt, will play more golf remains to be seen.

Coy about the fur

This week, Bezuidenhout will be hoping a new addition to his arsenal might prove the difference for him. That addition? A new moustache.

“ I was just lazy to shave it on Monday, so I'm not sure if I'm going to keep it on for the week. We'll see,” said Bezuidenhout on Tuesday.

While he was coy on whether the extra fur would stay, Bezuidenhout said it was not something he’s superstitious about.

“I mean, I have played well in previous tournaments with a moustache, so I haven't decided yet if I'm going to keep it or not.

“On some things[I’m superstitious], yes, but not on the moustache. It doesn't matter if it's on or off. But on certain things I am superstitious. Not on this.”

The 30-year-old did, however, reveal he was superstitious about only playing with white tees and using a fresh glove for every round of golf.
