South African singer-songwriter Shekhinah, born Shekhinah Thandi Donnell, expresses her overwhelming pride at being nominated for the prestigious Metro FM Awards 2025 for her hit song “Risk”, featuring Moliy.
Shekhinah told Saturday Star about the profound significance that the nomination holds for her career.
“My reaction to the nomination for risk is just so overwhelming. I think Metro FM is such an iconic station for me. And I just have never won a Metro FM award. I feel like I am pretty excited to be able to win one. I think it would really mean a lot to me and my career to have a Metro FM award. I don't think I want to stop until I have one.”
The Suited hit maker also reflected on her journey as an artist, filled with both significant challenges and rewarding moments. “My journey as an artist has been a really memorable one, with lots of ups and downs. Highs and lows. Good seasons and bad seasons, but the most rewarding thing that I have ever received is the love from people for my music. And I'm just in a space where people showed me so much love for so long that I want to do everything that I can to give back. I hope when people listen to my music and hear my album, they understand that I respect them. I respect the craft. And I love what I do, and I never want to fall short,” she explained.
