Joburg Tourism has announced its collaborating with the DSTV Delicious International Food and Music Festival this weekend on September 21 and 22, at the renowned Kyalami Grand Prix Circuit.

The event will headline international stars such as Jill Scott, Jason Derulo and Busta Rhymes who will be joined on both days by local beloved stars such as Thandiswa Mazwai, Soweto Gospel Choir, Bookm Shaka, Sun El Musician, among many other slated to perform on different days.

Celebrating its 10th year, this flagship lifestyle event promises to be a highlight of Joburg’s cultural and economic calendar, reinforcing the destination’s status as a premier tourism, business and lifestyle destination.

It is explained that as a key contributor to sustained economic growth and to bolster Joburg’s global profile, supporting the festival is a perfect match for Joburg Tourism.

This high-profile event exemplifies Joburg’s commitment to becoming a leading tourism, business and lifestyle hub by attracting a diverse audience of local, regional and international visitors. MMC of Economic Development at the City of Johannesburg, Councillor Nomoya Mnisi identifies the festival as a key contributor in this regard.

The festival has established itself as a major attraction since its inception.

Initially held at city-owned parks, the festival’s move to the Kyalami Grand Prix Circuit in recent years has allowed for an expanded offering beyond entertainment, including gastronomy, live performances and cultural activities. Last year’s event drew over 40 000 attendees – 40% of which were from outside of Joburg, underscoring its significant impact on the destination’s tourism and local economy.

“DSTV Delicious Festival’s objectives are well-aligned with Joburg’s broader strategic goals of stimulating domestic tourism and contributing to economic growth – thus enhancing the destination’s global competitiveness and attractiveness to visitors,” explains Thandubuhle Mgudlwa, Chief Executive Officer for the Johannesburg Tourism Company.
