Hibiscus Retirement Villages welcome you to the latest addition in its portfolio, Widenham Retirement Village, a picturesque development 40km south of Durban between the quaint village of Widenham and eMkhomazi.
Widenham Retirement Village brings to four the number of retirement developments under Hibiscus Retirement Villages, founded in October 1962 and providing residential homes to residents since July 1967.
That was the year its first retirement entity, Margate Retirement Village, was unveiled. Umdoni Retirement Village, on which work started in 1994 (and completed in 2000), was Hibiscus Retirement Villages’s second signature home, followed in 1995 by Ramsgate Retirement Village.
Like its predecessors, Widenham Retirement Village raises the bar in all important categories to offer retirees a distinctive product that ensures their twilight years are spent in comfort and leisure.
For instance, Phase 4 has north-facing units with sea views over the village of Widenham; 84 units are available to choose from. Widenham Retirement Village has proved popular since inception in October 2018.
To date, 170 units have been occupied and 220 units sold. Only two units from Phase 2 and seven from Phase 3 are left. Currently, the developers are constructing and occupying eight units a month. Phase 4 will be ready for occupation in May, when the first units will be available.
On sale are two-bedroom units from R1 845 000 and three-bedroom units starting at R2 140 000. All units are sold on the basis of life right, meaning the society always owns the units.
Hibiscus Retirement Villages emphasises that there are no transfer costs, no legal costs and no commissions and that the price you see is the price you pay. The same applies to levies, which will cover your rates and taxes as well as a garden service, security, outpatients department, water and maintenance.
Similarly, all internal and external maintenance of the cottage is the society’s responsibility. The insurance of the unit is also the society’s responsibility. All you will be required to do is insure are your own belongings. On-site facilities include two bowling greens, which are in play.
Construction on the clubhouse starts next month, with a swimming pool and tennis courts expected to follow shortly thereafter. A frail care facility is earmarked for construction towards the end of the development.
