Managed mixed-use precincts have an important role to play in environmental sustainability and community value and the Sibaya Coastal Precinct is an example of a property development contributing to the greater good.
This 1 000 hectare mixed-use node encompasses some of the country’s best coastal land and its development, spearheaded by private developers, has garnered national attention.
Beyond its borders, the foundations laid by this mega-precinct directly and indirectly have a positive effect on surrounding communities while also positioning KZN as the country’s most investable province.
“A well-managed precinct is the developer’s way of saying we care about more than just the property within an estate,” says Charles Thompson, director of the Devmco Group.
“To sell Sibaya, we have to promote KZN. We have shouldered the cost to upgrade some of the (surrounding) infrastructure, which has far-reaching benefit for those beyond Sibaya’s borders.”
