You no longer need to leave your car to do your banking following the latest
move by Standard Bank to make banking easier.
The bank has introduced South Africa`s first drive-through facility that
offers you a full banking service from the convenience of your car.
The Fourways Crossing AutoServ in Johannesburg - which forms part of
Standard Bank`s new Fourways Crossing branch - works like a automatic teller
machine (ATM) except that you interact with an off-site teller through
closed circuit television monitors.
All notes and paper are transported in canisters through a pneumatic tube
system between you and the teller.
Marius Wait, Standard Bank Provincial Director, North West areas, says
security measures are in place to ensure that you will be safe when doing
your banking in this way.
These measures include security guards on site and surveillance cameras.
Fourways and Sunninghill are the two fastest growing business nodes in the
area, he says.
Standard Bank will monitor the success of the drive-through facility and if
it proves popular, will look at other possible sites, Wait says.
