Durban – The matriculation exams currently underway in KwaZulu-Natal are proceeding well and the provincial education department is satisfied with the process so far.
“With only a few days to go before the whole process of writing examinations is concluded, the department is upbeat with the level of commitment and passion the staff and management dealing with examinations at all districts continue to show,” education MEC Neliswa Peggy Nkonyenithe said on Sunday.
“The team that is dealing with the whole work involving examinations is so far doing a great job. We are all happy with what we have been observing from the first day of examinations until now,” she said.
Nkonyeni encouraged invigilators and everybody else involved in the process to continue “doing a great job and make sure that the province produces credible results”.
So far, the province had not encountered any problems threatening the quality and credibility of results. The over 1700 schools with grade 12 exams were still being monitored.
“The transportation of our papers to schools has also been good, with papers arriving on time. There were, however, a few incidents where public protests in some parts of the province have slightly delayed the delivery of our papers to schools, but due to [the] dedication our teams have been showing, so far, all papers ended up getting to all the schools on time for learners to write,” Nkonyeni said.
She wished grade 12 pupils and all others writing exams this year all the best and encouraged them to be ready for next year as they moved to institutions of higher learning or the next grades.
