EFF leader Julius Malema asserts that no one in over a decade of the party’s history has successfully made it politically after dumping his party to pursue greener pastures.

Malema’s statement follows a notable departure of key EFF leaders to join former president Jacob Zuma's uMkhonto weSizwe (MK) Party in recent months.

In a podcast, the Hustlers Corner, Malema said the people he anticipated to leave the EFF have already left, but he could not rule out the possibility of others leaving.

“But I must explain one thing, that is what makes me sleep at night, there’s no single person in the 11 years of the EFF, there’s no single person who has ever left the EFF and succeeded, politically, not one.

“You can name all of them, even the ones you are talking about now, me and you will come back to this podcast and you will ask if I am not feeling sorry for them,” he said.

Big names, Floyd Shivambu, advocates Dali Mpofu and Busisiwe Mkhwebane, Magasela Mzobe, Jimmy Manyi as well as Mandisa Mashego have left the EFF.

Although a number of them had left, others were on his doorstep begging him to come back, Malema said.

He cited the example of a former EFF member who quit the party after complaining about the VBS scandal and went on to become a "hero to many" before joining ActionSA in Gqeberha (Port Elizabeth).

Malema claimed that this person is currently looking to rejoin the EFF. “I just received a long letter from him begging to come back to the EFF.

"But, in the EFF, there is a clause in the constitution that says if you leave and join or wear the colours of another political party, you will not be welcomed back because the EFF is not an all-day, here, you check out, (chaile) it's over, that's it. You check in, you stay.

“I worry not because these policies that the EFF has, we crafted them together with these people and none of the MKP policies come closer to the EFF.”
