Two suspects arrested for the murders of six people at the Marry Me Informal Settlement in Soshanguve over the weekend are expected to make their first appearance in the Pretoria North Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday.
The suspects, aged 27 and 50, were arrested on Monday, March 24, 2025.
The Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation (Hawks) said the suspects are allegedly linked to murders and house robberies that occurred on February 21, 2025.
Hawks spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Christopher Singo said the suspects face charges of murder, attempted murder, possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition.
"The firearms will be subjected to ballistic testing to determine whether they have been involved in other serious crimes in Gauteng."
On Tuesday, Gauteng Premier Panyaza Lesufi said the sixth victim died in the hospital.
He confirmed that two of the hospitalised patrollers had been discharged, while four others were still fighting for their lives in the hospital.
Speaking to the arrests, Lesufi said police acted on information and traced the first suspect to Soshanguve Extension 20 and the second person in Soshanguve Extension 6.
