A 75-year-old Northern Cape man was arrested after police uncovered a concealed stash of dagga worth an estimated R207,000.

The raid occurred in Pabalello at the man's house on Tuesday, December 10,2024.

The pensioner who faces drug-related charges is expected to appear in court on Wednesday.

Police spokesperson Sergeant Omphile Masegela said Upington Border Police received a tip-off and then obtained a search warrant and conducted a raid at the premises.

“During the search police discovered dagga with an estimated value of R 207,000 buried in a hole underneath the fridge in the kitchen.

“The dagga and cash, which are suspected to be the proceeds of drug sales, were seized,” said Masegela.

The suspect was taken into custody on charges of dealing in dagga.

"The unabated efforts and swift response by the members were commended by the management in the district.

"Police in the ZFM District will intensify their efforts to eradicate the trade in drugs and will squeeze the space for drug dealers to this festive season and beyond," said Masegela.
