The KwaZulu-Natal police arrested four suspects on September 13, in connection with a string of house robberies in the Nazereth and surrounding areas.

The suspects, aged between 19 and 24, were allegedly found in possession of four firearms, four rounds of ammunition, and stolen items, including thirteen suspected stolen cellphones, five banks cards, and other electronic goods.

According to Colonel Robert Netshiunda, the operation was made possible through operationalised intelligence, which led the police to the suspects’ hideout in Pinetown.

Upon raiding the identified address, the police allegedly found the suspects with the incriminating items, linking them to a recent house robbery in Tshelimnyama, Marianhill.

The arrest of the four suspects comes at a time when police are under increasing pressure to tackle rising crime rates.

In recent weeks, several police shoot outs have made headlines, highlighting the danger faced by law enforcement officials and commitment of leaving no room for criminals.

Most of these incidents havve been reported in Durban, Johannesburg, and Cape Town, which are known for high crime rates.

The arrest of the four adds to the numbers and commitment of the police to keep communities safe.

The suspects, aged between 19 and 24, are set to appear in the Pinetown Magistrate’s Court today, September 13.
