Coventry, UK - Jaguar's new XFR-S Sportbrake is a dragon of a wagon that will instil fear into any story-book monster.
Just like its sedan counterpart , Jag's first high-performance R-S branded estate car is thrust forward by the most sinister version of Jaguar's 5-litre supercharged V8, credited with 405kW and 680Nm.
Screeching off the mark, the XFR-S wagon will sprint to 100km/h in just 4.8 seconds, Jaguar says, and it'll easily reach its electronically limited top speed of 300km/h.
Not bad for a car that will swallow 1675 litres of luggage with the rear seats folded.
The engine is mated to an eight-speed automatic gearbox with flappy paddles and 'Quickshift' functionality that does just that through rapid and precisely-timed torque intervention.
For tackling the bends with precision, the XFR-S has a retuned chassis, complete with an active electronic diff, and numerous aerodynamic measures are in place to reduce lift.
Of course, those 20-inch 'Varuna' alloy wheels help its case and beef up the looks, along with a styling kit that includes a bolder front bumper, extended side sills and an extended rear bumper that houses a carbon fibre diffuser.
The racy theme continues inside the cabin with bespoke materials that include carbon leather and contrasting highlight micro-piping and stitching.
Given that South Africa does not get the Sportbrake versions of the XF, it's unlikely that we'll see this one here any time soon, but the sedan version is on the market for R1 293 000.
