GM chose a decidedly trendy means of revealing the concept version of its next-generation Opel Zafira to the world - they created a hologram effect through an iPad held by design boss Mark Adams.
The concept car closely resembles the next-generation Zafira compact MPV and although not much has been revealed about this forthcoming model, Adams has described it as “a lounge on wheels that features an airy and bright interior executed in high quality. Here we've applied the lounge concept to a motor vehicle.
“A lounge is a place you want to escape to and relax, a place where you really want to be. We wanted to offer the same feeling in a monocab and make it the lounge you want to spend time in,” he continued.
While that's not the first time a carmaker has tried this, it's hard not to admire the whole concept.
Opel also promises that it will offer the highest possible cabin flexibility to meet most needs for space, with a great emphasis on rear passenger seats. The cabin is also generously glazed to allow as much light to enter as possible.
Moving to the outside, a key design element here is the wing shaped headlamp that we've seen on previous concept cars and which is likely to become a signature feature on future Opels.
Other than that, the concept features an Astra-like grille and a shape that's a natural evolution of the current Zafira.
The concept will make its debut at the Geneva Motor Show on 1 March, alongside the production-ready Opel Ampera, which is Opel's version of the Chevrolet Volt plug-in hybrid vehicle.
