While an all-new Opel Corsa is still a good three years away, Opel has given the current model a mid-lift facelift to see it through its latter years. Local introduction is set for March next year.
Opel already meted out numerous under-the-skin enhancements to the Corsa last year, including revisions to the engines, chassis and steering, so this latest update is really more of a botox injection and nose lift than open heart surgery.
While the Corsa's familiar shape remains, the big change is at the front end, where the Corsa gets new 'eagle eye' headlights, a wider lower grille with a mesh pattern and a larger chrome bar on the upper grille. There's also a new range of alloy wheels. The Corsa also continues the colourful trend started by the Colour Edition that was recently launched here with a vibrant new range of exterior and cabin colours that read like a Mexican take away menu.
Fancy a Tabasco orange interior with off-white Guacamole outside? Or would you rather have Grasshopper Green paint? Conventional colours are still available for those with a more conservative hunger.
Wannabe boy racers have it rather good with the new Corsa, Opel offering the 'Linea' pack that adds two large racing stripes across the bonnet and roof together with colour-matched 17-inch alloys and wing mirrors.
The latest Corsa is also keeping apace with techno junkies, with certain versions getting a new multimedia infotainment system with a five-inch colour touch screen and seven, 4x20 watt loudspeakers.
The engine range remains unchanged except that European markets will be getting an upgraded ecoFlex version which now has a Stop-Start system as standard. On the combined cycle, this 70kW 1.3-litre turbodiesel consumes just 3.5 litres per 100km, equating to 94g/km CO2 emissions.
