Film producer Anant Singh has paid tribute following the passing of Ratan Tata, former chairman of Tata Group and Tata Sons.
Tata passed away on Wednesday at the age of 86 from natural causes. Singh said that he was deeply saddened by the passing of Ratan Tata.
“He was an inspirational business leader who was a role model to many around the world. He was a forward-thinking business icon, and a philanthropist with a huge heart. Ratan Tata was an affable man who was always warm and engaging in all our interactions.”
Singh added that Tata was a friend to South Africa and co-chaired the South Africa–India CEO Forum, on which he had the honour to serve alongside him. “On one occasion, at a meeting of the Forum, he talked to me about his interest in films, and I was pleasantly surprised when he mentioned some of the films I had made and that he had enjoyed watching them.
Ratan Tata’s passing leaves a huge void in the Indian business fraternity, but he leaves a legacy that will endure for generations to come as he pioneered globalisation and India’s progression into an economic powerhouse.”
Singh said that he sends his sincere condolences to the Tata Family and his close friends.
