DURBAN - A family of four sustained injuries ranging from serious to minor after two vehicles collided on the N2 in Gingindlovu, KwaZulu-Natal on Sunday.

IPSS Medical Rescue spokesperson Dylan Meyrick, said paramedics were called out to bridge 14 on the N2 on Sunday night following a collision between two light motor vehicles.

He said a driver had allegedly attempted to do a U-turn on the highway when the vehicle was struck by another vehicle.

Meyrick said a family of four was travelling in one of the vehicles involved.

“Two patients sustained serious injuries and were treated by IPSS Medical advanced life support. Another two family members were lucky to escape with more minor injuries,” he said.

The entire family was transported by IPSS Medical to a nearby facility for further care, he said.

“The driver of the other vehicle sustained minor injuries, and was transported by Alerts EMS,” added Meyrick.

Meanwhile, in a separate accident on Monday morning, Kwazulu Private Ambulance Service spokesperson Craig Botha said paramedics responded to Georgedale Road next to Cato Ridge after reports of a collision.

Botha said upon arrival, emergency services found that a taxi had lost control and overturned.

“Paramedics quickly assessed the scene and found 2 patients had sustained serious injuries,” he said.

The patients were treated on the scene before being transported to a hospital for further treatment.
