By now most people know Nara Smith and that she’s best known for making everything from scratch.

Well-known luxury designer brand, Marc Jacobs collaborated with Smith to create one of their famous tote bags in her distinctly recognisable cooking style.

The Marc Jacobs TikTok and Instagram account shared a clip of her mixing flour, eggs, water, and red food colouring and kneading the dough until it magically turns into a tiny version of the famous tote bag.

She then places the tiny raw bag in the oven and after an hour of “baking”, she declares in her signature soft monotone voice that the now real bag it is “perfectly risen” and ready to “eat” as she shows it off.

“It tasted so much better than the shop-bought tote bag. This one really hit the spot,” she concludes.

Pretty much the same way she concludes most of her “from scratch” cooking videos.

While this is, of course, a genius ad by the Marc Jacobs team, Smith is once again getting heat for copying another content creator's ideas.

In a TikTok video, Mary Korlin-Downs responded to one of her followers who pointed out that, “The only thing similar is the bag and the idea of the oven, which has been done many times before”.

Korlin-Downs continues to share videos that she has done in the past which is very similar to the one Marc Jacobs and Nara Smith did.

She even did a video where she “bakes” a red cherry and it turns into a real bag in an oven.

The content creator’s video of her making a Marc Jacobs bag in the oven is almost identical to Smith’s video.

Korlin-Downs claims that Marc Jacobs sent her the bag to create a video, so they are aware of the style in which it was created.

She shared another video where she makes a striped Levi vest in a similar style.

She does, however, add that people don’t own the concept.

“I know that Nara makes cooking videos and I know that she's into fashion so it’s not a stretch,” says Korlin-Downs.
