South African Minister of Sport, Arts and Culture, Gayton McKenzie took to social media to reflect on his 100-day health journey.
McKenzie was appointed to his position by President Cyril Ramaphosa 100 days ago, he shared that at the time he did not physically look like he fit the position.
He made the decision there and then to change his lifestyle to become healthier and slimmer.
Since the start of his journey, McKenzie has shared updates on X and has encouraged others to also make a change in their lifestyles.
In the latest update, McKenzie said: “Today is a very important day, I’m giving my 100 day speech of our achievements in the department and our plans, but what’s more important for me, for my health and well-being is feeling good and feeling good about my weight.”
He continued: “When I was appointed by President Cyril Ramaphosa, I didn’t look like the Minister of Sport, I looked like the Minister of Food and Beverages, and I decided I’m going to lose the weight.”
McKenzie weighed 146.6 kilos before he embarked on his weight loss journey.
Standing on the scale on Thursday, October 17, McKenzie weights 131.6 kilos.
“This is how much I’ve lost since I took the decision not to be an obese sports minister ... I basically lost 15kgs. I’ve lost 15kgs in these 100 days. You can do it, we shouldn’t stop, let’s go for it ... I did it and you can do it, salute.”
