Like any retired individual, cats who have lived all nine of their lives to the fullest need an oasis, a place to rest, relax and purr as they enjoy their golden years.
Based in Malmesbury in the Western Cape, the Lucky Lucy Foundation has recently introduced a retirement oasis where older cats may live out their last years to the fullest in a comfortable environment.
The area has been named ‘alCATraz’ and includes areas of shade, flower beds and herb gardens.
Commenting on the completion of the retirement sanctuary, the founders shared on social media; “There’s nothing more rewarding than watching the cats take full advantage of a newly completed area.
“The shaded section and paved areas in the retirement area are almost finished and while the work will likely never be completely done, it brings us great satisfaction to see our cats enjoying each new space, whether it’s a flower bed, herb garden, or shaded area”.
They expressed their gratitude for the community’s involvement in the project.
‘We also want to take a moment to express our heartfelt gratitude for all the generous donations that made this little project possible. Your contributions have truly made a difference as you can see!
“Thanks to your support, our cats now enjoy the comfort of an additional space they can call their own — a place of peace, safety, and love in their golden years. This would not have been possible without your kindness and generosity.”
The foundation has asked locals who have pre-loved items, such as pots, garden furniture, garden ornaments or any other decorative items lying around to donate the items to the Lucky Lucy Foundation.
