“Voetspore” fans can prepare for an exhilarating exploration of South America as the popular Afrikaans travelogue returns for season 14 on SABC2 next month.
Sub-titled “Voetspore South America 3” it will take viewers on a monumental three-year journey of over 45,000 kilometres across the South America continent, through 12 countries including Venezuela, Guyana, Suriname, Rio de Janeiro and Uruguay.
The new season comprises 13 episodes showcasing an array of languages and rich cultural diversity from Spanish to Portuguese to Dutch and English.
It will also showcase landscapes that range from the majestic Andes to the vibrant Amazon rainforest and the stunning Atlantic coast.
Executive producer and expedition leader Johan Badenhorst shared insights on the highs and lows of their travels.
“There had been numerous highlights and a few setbacks. The team visited the Iguazu Fall, travelled the length of the Andes Mountain range, crossed the Strait of Magellan on their way to Ushuaia, visited the Afrikaner community in Patagonia, the Salar de Uyuni and Machu Pichu, crossed the Equator twice, spent a week on the mighty Amazon River and visited iconic cities such as Buenos Aires, Medellín and Rio de Janeiro.
“The serious motor accident in Colombia at the end of the second expedition posed the team with a challenge not experienced on any of their previous adventures over the past 25 years.”
He continued to share that the continent offers everything from spectacular landscapes, wonderful cuisine, friendly people, intriguing history and challenging routes.
“It is the ideal destination for overlanders, always leaving the impression that you want to see and experience more”.
