Netflix’s "XO, Kitty", is back for another season of chaos, romance, and self-discovery.
Picking up where Season 1 left off, Kitty (played by Anna Cathcart) returns to the Korean International School of Seoul (KISS) for her junior year after being kicked out for breaking too many rules.
But this time, she’s not just stirring up trouble, she’s exploring long-buried family secrets and navigating a complicated love life.
In this season, Kitty’s already chaotic world gets even more tangled. (Spoilers ahead, if you didn't binge-watch the second season yet.)
She finds herself in a love triangle or perhaps more accurately, a love rhombus and becomes entangled in the mystery of her late mother's past.
As she digs deeper into her heritage, Kitty uncovers hidden truths that could change everything she thought she knew about her family.
Fans of the "To All the Boys" films will be delighted by the return of Peter Kavinsky (Noah Centineo) and Margot Song Covey (Janel Parrish).
Centineo, who was in South Korea filming his Netflix action series "The Recruit", praised Cathcart’s talent.
“Working with Anna again was amazing," Centineo told Netflix in an interview. She’s so wonderfully talented, and stepping back into this universe was a joy.”
Parrish, who plays the eldest Covey sister, Margot, also makes a surprise return in the Season 2 finale.
Cathcart described working with Parrish as “amazing,” emphasising the deep bond they share, both on and off-screen.
Kitty’s search for answers about her mother’s time at KISS takes a shocking turn as she uncovers the identity of Simon, a man her mother corresponded with during her high school years.
While Kitty initially assumes Simon is a romantic figure, it turns out he is actually her mother’s cousin.
The revelation sheds light on long-held family secrets, as Kitty’s halmoni (grandmother) had severed ties with her sister, leaving Kitty and her mother unaware of their cousins still living in South Korea.
While Kitty explores her feelings for her best friend-turned-romantic-interest Min Ho (Sang Heon Lee), their relationship is anything but straightforward.
Season 2 sees their evolving friendship, filled with tension and emotional vulnerability.
Despite a shared moment of intimacy, the long-awaited kiss remains elusive. Instead, their growing connection is built on understanding and support, especially as they navigate personal challenges and family crises.
Despite their undeniable chemistry, showrunner O'Toole explained that the slow burn is intentional, allowing viewers to experience the anticipation alongside Kitty.
“Longing is a cornerstone of every teen show,” said O’Toole. “The anticipation of what’s to come is just as important as the moment itself.”
In a surprising twist, Kitty’s brief romance with Yuri (Gia Kim) takes a turn when Yuri admits that she is in love with Juliana (Regan Aliyah).
Though the kiss between Kitty and Yuri in Season 1 stirred up plenty of excitement, Season 2 shifts focus, as Kitty comes to terms with her feelings and moves on.
Season 2 culminates in a dramatic singing competition, with Eunice (Han Bi Ryu) emerging victorious.
Eunice's stunning performance earned her the opportunity to open for Min Ho’s K-pop star brother on his summer tour.
Meanwhile, Dae (Minyeong Choi), who had previously underestimated Eunice, comes to terms with her talent, and the two reconcile in the end.
At the close of Season 2, Kitty is left contemplating her future at KISS.
With a renewed scholarship and a newfound connection to her family in South Korea, it’s clear that Kitty’s journey is far from over.
Whether or not she returns for another semester remains to be seen.
