Model, actor and body-builder Vuyo Dabula is back on Mzansi screens following his one-year break due to gun violence.
The African Movie Academy Award nominee has been unveiled as being part of the cast of Showmax Original ‘The Butcher’s Soul’.
In an interview with GQ, Dabula said that he spent a good part of 2023 recovering from a gunshot wound.
“I was the victim of gun violence in December 2022, so much of 2023 was focused on my recovery. I’ve also been hitting the gym quite hard, and I am now fully recovered,” he said.
In 2023, Dabula left SABC 1’s ‘Uzalo’ after a short stint. He was previously on screen on ‘Generations: The Legacy’.
Dabula stars alongside SAFTA winner Melusi Mbele, who returns to screens following his ‘Scandal!’ exit in June this year.

‘The Butcher’s Soul’ is directed by Kagiso Samuel Leburu, who won the Made for TV Film SAFTA for his debut feature “Okae Molao” and also debuted ‘Month End’ at Durban International Festival this month.
‘The Butcher’s Soul’ is about a butcher who is granted seven days by the angel of Death to bring her the guilty souls in exchange for his daughter’s life, after his family suffers a deadly attack.
