Fans of the hit teen drama “Euphoria” will miss seeing Storm Reid as Gia Bennett in the upcoming third season.

The 21-year-old actress confirmed that her character, Rue’s younger sister, will not be returning. Speaking at the Governors Awards on November 18, Reid reflected on her journey with the Emmy-winning series.

“I’m very excited for Season 3,” she told “Rotten Tomatoes”. “Unfortunately, Gia’s not returning to the third season, but I am so, so indebted to the cast and the crew of that show, to HBO. ‘Euphoria’ is a really special thing and I’m so glad that that’s a part of my legacy and that I was a part of such a cultural phenomenon.”

Storm played Gia with heart and vulnerability, giving audiences insight into how Rue’s struggles with addiction affected her family.

Her absence in season 3 will definitely leave a gap but Reid expressed nothing but love for the series.

“I’m forever grateful, forever indebted, and I can’t wait to see what Season 3 has in store,” she added.

Zendaya, who stars as Rue, has hinted that the upcoming season will bring some big changes.

In a recent “Entertainment Weekly” interview, she mentioned a time jump that will explore the characters’ lives beyond high school. This shift aligns with creator Sam Levinson’s vision to expand the narrative and show how the characters grow into adulthood.

While Reid didn’t give a specific reason for her exit, her career is soaring. From her standout role in “The Last of Us” to her work in “A Wrinkle in Time”, she continues to make her mark as an actress.

Season 3 of “Euphoria” may feel different without Gia but it promises to dig deeper into the lives of Rue and her friends.

As Reid moves on to new opportunities, fans will always remember her as part of the show’s legacy.
