Ross Learmonth, a celebrated South African vocalist who first rose to fame with the rock band Prime Circle, is back with a new single, “Honey.”

Known for his unique voice and emotional songs, Learmonth is giving fans something new to hold on to.

Earlier this year, he released "Because of You," a track that he described as “a song from the heart.” At the time, he expressed how the song reflected his journey through personal emotions.

"The song is about how we can get caught up in our own emotions and demons, but this is about the person on the other side trying to show you your true value – those people who truly care about you,“ he said.

With "Honey," Learmonth takes things a step further. Initially meant to be a short piece, the song grew into a full exploration of love, recovery and the inner battles we face.

He shared: “Honey was originally a very short song, about a minute. I almost left it like that, but the more I heard it, the more it needed the story to play out.”

The song turned into an introspective journey, with themes of love, forgiveness and personal growth. It also explores the complexities of human emotion.

"Honey" touches on these dark thoughts while also offering a message of hope and forgiveness. Learmonth added: “This single is very personal to me. It encapsulated the last few years of my life in recovery and facing my edges and faults.”

With UK-based producers Chasing Fantasia enhancing the emotional depth of the song through soft backing vocals and a powerful outro, "Honey" strikes a delicate balance between vulnerability and strength.

“It’s a love song first and I hope people form new meanings and memories with it,” Learmonth said.

The accompanying music video adds yet another layer of emotion to the single. Directed by the musician’s partner, Kirst Dalton, the video reflects themes of self-forgiveness and personal understanding.

“The script was written by my partner Kirst, who understands me probably better than I do myself, so I felt in very good hands with her directing and doing the screenplay,” Learmonth shared.

In addition to the couple’s collaboration, the production team, including directors of photography, helped bring the video to life. Learmonth playfully mentions that one of the small inspirations for the video came from his love for “a reveal like an M. Night Shyamalan movie.”

The video brings the song’s themes of forgiveness and reflection to life in a way that only deepens the emotional impact of the song.
